A Division Champs

Inter-Church Softball League Posted on August 24, 2016 by Mark WingFebruary 7, 2017

2016 Bethany 1
Last night, the A Division finished their championship game and Bethany #1 beat Hope Community #1 23-19. Bethany #1 started the evening with a five run lead and tacked on a few extra runs but Hope Community made it interesting in the bottom of the seventh inning. Trailing six runs, they scored two quick runs and had runners on base to further threaten the Bethany lead, but ultimately couldn’t close the gap. Congrats to both teams on a great season!

State Playoff Results

2016 Evangel state champs
On Saturday August 20th, our Western Mass league captured two of the three State Championships against Eastern Mass foes. Bethany/Hope captured the A Division in a tight series decided by only a total of three runs. In addition, Evangel captured the B division in another tightly contested three game series. Redemption fell to a very talented Cape Cod League Church in a two game sweep to round out the three divisions. Another successful year as our division winners competed against the best church softball talent in the state of Massachusetts.

Games Cancelled and Moved

Inter-Church Softball League Posted on August 2, 2016 by Mark WingFebruary 17, 2017

All fields are unplayable for today per Chicopee and Springfield parks departments and the games are cancelled. Because there are so many games with playoff implications and since this was the last go round for everyone, we are going to move the games from today to next Tuesday. The playoffs will now be Tuesday, August 16th. If we get rain next Tuesday, the teams that are currently in the playoffs with current seeding, will be set with no make-ups. If I get rain on the 16th we’ll… 🙂 🙂

More Prayers and Help Needed

Inter-Church Softball League Posted on July 24, 2016 by Mark WingFebruary 17, 2017

One of Church of Christ’s players Jeremy McCormick’s son Conor is the 16 year old that you might have heard or read on the news that had a pool accident. Their entire Church is hurting. The league’s prayers for his healing and for the family would be appreciated.

The news has not been positive for this young man. He is currently paralyzed. His story has been featured on several media outlets the past few days, including from the Mayor of West Springfield. Church of Christ held a prayer vigil at the Church on Wednesday evening which drew about 350 people from the community. A “Go Fund Me” page has been established to assist the family with what will become exorbitantly high medical costs. Below are links with info. It includes the donation page. His father, Jeremy, has been a big part of our softball team all season. Thanks.
