JUNE 30 HIGHLIGHTS
Posted by David Henry on 6/30/2009

There was an exciting finish to the 2nd game between Foster Memorial and Evangel.  Foster jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning, but Evangel eventually came back with 4 runs in the top of the 7th to tie the game at 8-8.  Bill Trombley led of the bottom of the 7th for Foster with a double and was advanced to third on a ground out.  With Trombley on 3rd and one out, Evangel got the next batter to pop out to the infield.  Evangel then intentionally walked the next two hitters to load the bases for Jeff Lorion.  With the count 2-2, Lorion sent a line drive to the opposite field for a single that drove in  the winning run and clinched a sweep for Foster.  Kudos to Evangel for their hard play and great show of sportsmanship.

Bethlehem Baptist overcame a big first inning by Bethany #1 to win the first game of the night 8-7 on a walk-off single by Greg Bell that scored Bryan Kaye.

No fancy highlights since Nikali is on vacation. But Holland Congregational made an incredible triple play in the second game to kill a big rally by CPC. Praise God for the incredible weather tonight and the great fellowship with our brothers from Holland Congregational.

United Bible was able to pull two wins from Tabernacle #1 with great pitching from Rey Bermudez, defense and timely hitting.. Game 1 ended 9-4 and Game 2 ended 8-3

On Tuesday, June 30th, the games scheduled for Szot Park #2 and #3 are being moved to Rivers #2 and #3 respectively.  Chicopee is getting Szot Park ready for their 4th of July celebration and those fields will be unavailable.  Thank you, Nikali.

June 25th Highlights

Christ Presbyterian took a pair of close games from Dwight Chapel tonight.  In fact, Dwight Chapel made it interesting in their final at bats and had the winning runs on the bases in both games.  In the second game, Cory “New Comer of Softball Life” Tripp made a fantastic catch on a hard hit line drive at 3rd base.  Nate “Ballerina” Tripp made some great defensive plays in the field and had four great hits at the plate.  Mel “Field General” Whitham went 6 for 9 at the plate and was steady at the shortstop position.  Finally, Kristi “Swinger of the High Balls” Richardson hit well at the plate.  Great games from both teams and finally some sunny weather!
